Inventory tracking fails when staff don't understand why they're recording batch dates. The simplest training approach: explain the cost of expired stock in pounds and pence. Show staff a recent write-off (e.g. 'we threw away £80 of e-liquid last month because nobody checked the date').
Train three core actions: first, when new stock arrives, record it in the system before it goes on the shelf. Second, when restocking, place older stock at the front. Third, if a customer asks for a product, check the age flag before selling -- if it's red, offer a discount and move it.
TrackElf's simple colour system (green/yellow/orange/red) makes it easy for staff to see what needs attention at a glance.
